Industry Events

Industry events are the perfect opportunity to reconnect with some old friends as well as meet new ones. Whether it be at our booth, your booth or after the event ends, we really do look forward to each and every time we can finally put some faces to names and voices we only get to hear occasionally over the phone! Nothing beats a familiar face as we continue striving to meet as many of our users as possible – see if you can spot yourself in any of these photos.

Thank you to everyone who visited our booth at MiningWorld Russia 2019 over the few days! To both new and old faces, we look forward to seeing you again at future industry events.

From the 17th – 19th of April, Datamine was excited to be an associate sponsor of the Marrakech Mining Convention 2019 in Morocco. We were also very proud to have received an award for our involvement with the event.

Our team had a great time at the Expo Minas last week in Ecuador. Any chance to meet old and new clients, partners and friends in the industry are always welcomed! We hope to see everyone at the next one.

We were very pleased to have recently taken part in the XI Engineering Week in João Monlevade, Minas Gerais. Our team were present at the event’s opening session starting with an interactive discussion about Datamine and our open pit planning solutions. We also offered a Studio OP workshop for 20 mining engineering students from the State University of Minas Gerais (UEMG), who were taught the standard workflow of Studio OP, including automatic pit design, reserve calculation and short term scheduling. We all had a great time and wish we could do it all over again!

A big hand to Karina Alexandra Febres Reyes for delivering a great presentation of Datamine solutions at the Geology-Mining day at Universidad Nacional de Loja in Ecuador. Well done Karina, we’re sure everyone left learning something from your presentation!

Ben Vagg and Mike Warner very recently attended the AIMS Conference showcasing both our underground and open pit survey solutions from 14-16 August. It was an excellent event – a big thank you to the organisers for putting together this wonderful event, and inviting a such a great line-up of keynote speakers. We look forward to attending again next year!

Datamine Training & Events

Datamine are renowned for our gold standard training sessions and workshops as our hands-on approach aims to help attendees grasp both the practical uses and theoretical foundations of our software. Our experienced trainers take pride in tailoring the structure according to user levels and experience, and as we can see from some of the below snaps, some fun was also definitely had! We hold regular training and workshops across the globe for many of our software solutions, so please keep an eye out for the next one scheduled near you or reach out and enquire on topics you would like to be covered!

A highlight this quarter were our Discover Mobile miniature workshops that encouraged users to visit our Perth office for a quick and easy guide on how to set up and use Discover Mobile in a matter of minutes. Raphael Doutre and David Corrigan who led these sessions shared some of their thoughts below.

“I remember the great feeling I had the first time I used Discover Mobile. Speed, clarity, mobility like your computer is in your hand, live location, movement on map, editing vector objects, viewing multiple beautiful maps and where I stand on them at all times, and all in 1 single file transferable to my computer project, wow, mind-blowing. I am putting myself in my old shoes here, as the Exploration Geologist I used to be.Raphael Doutre.

The workshops ran smoothly and we had some great feedback with users commenting that Discover mobile is the best new technology going around right now. This app is certainly changing how companies view their project data, when it can be instantly available on your own personal mobile and it really gets everyone thinking more about data governance.” David Corrigan.

We successfully hosted miniature workshops on Discover mobile – show, tell and install in Perth. It was evident from the two workshops that people do need a guide on a new track! To show you the way, and to point out the hidden gems, – we came to you – the starting point of the track! They not only had a guide (David Corrigan) but a French porter as well (Raphael Doutre) – what more could you want!

On May 30th and 31st, Datamine Brazil hosted a Workshop in Belo Horizonte with more than 50 people in attendance. It was an event where everyone could learn of our various solutions, how they worked with each other to cover the entire mining value chain, and also what was coming up within the next few months.

Great work to the Datamine Chile team for organising and hosting such a successful event and of course, thank you to everyone who came and attended our Discover Users Conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We hope to see all of you again at future Datamine and industry events!

Following the Sirovision 6.2 release, our Peru team held a Sirovision Workshop in their office showcasing how easy it is for Geotechnical and Geomechanical Engineers to import and manipulate drone images in Sirovision. Thank you all for joining us!

Our focus on our geology and underground planning solutions at our West Africa Conference was well received with representatives from various companies who attended. Thank you to each and every delegate – the conference wouldn’t have been a success without you all. And a special thank you to our host, AngloGold Ashanti and Philemon Frimpong for welcoming us back this year. We’re already looking forward to our next visit to Ghana!

We had students from the University of Johannesburg and the University of the Witwatersrand for a Studio UG Training conducted by Giovanna Cabral. They covered the standard workflow of Studio UG, including Studio Core Introduction, Planning, and Scheduling. Everyone had a great time and we are certain that all that knowledge will make a positive impact in their professional careers.

Datamine Peru held open training sessions on Geostatistics for the team at Santa Luisa, Condestable and Volcan – thank you all for attending!

On July 22, we started another vacation course for undergraduate students in mine engineering and geology of 15 universities in Brazil: UEMG, CEFET-Araxá, UFPE, UniFal, UNIFESSPA, UFCG, UFMG, UniBH, UFC, UFPR, UFRJ, UnB, UERJ, UFBA and UFU.
