Marrakech Mining Convention 2019 Round-Up

Marrakech Mining Convention 2019 Round-Up

From the 17th – 19th of April, Datamine was excited to be an associate sponsor of the Marrakech Mining Convention 2019 in Morocco.

As was the reason for our involvement in the Sudan International Mining Business Forum & Exhibition earlier this year, our North African Business Lead, Freddy Kapako, took the decision to partner with Valiant Business Media again at the MMC for the purpose of creating a strong presence by exhibiting at the inaugural event as the only mining software solutions provider.  Datamine found great value in being a sponsor at this international event. This included maximising our brand’s visibility, increased awareness around our solutions within the north African market, the development of new international partnerships as well as positioning Datamine as a leader in its market segment.

We used our time wisely in Morocco by dedicating ourselves to building rapport with key and potential clients.  Building up to MMC, we held demonstrations at Managem, a silver sponsor of MMC and a valued Datamine client.  It took place on the 16th of April, the day before the exhibition and included a Studio UG and EPS demo by Aline Silva Costa, a Studio RM demo by Hennie Coetzee and a Discover MapInfo demo by Louwtjie Cronje.  The employees of Managem were grateful for our efforts and found the demonstrations to be insightful valuable.

Datamine exhibited as an associate sponsor at the event and was proud to receive an award for our involvement. Through the use of state-of-the-art technology, we used our exhibition to inform delegates about our solutions by performing many stimulating demos at our stand.  Further to this, our Solution Lead, Hennie Coetzee, conducted a presentation in the “Trends, Technology and Techniques” category of the conference, titled “Technology for rapid geotechnical data collection“. It was an incredibly successful and immersive presentation which showcased our Sirovision solution using drone technology. No doubt this was a major motivation for delegates to visit Datamine’s stand thereafter.

It’s safe to say that at MMC, we truly proved the capabilities of the various Datamine software solutions and showed that we are perpetually improving our solution offering in the mining industry.

Aside from the MMC, Datamine experienced some other highlights as well:

  • It was great to observe some of our solutions being displayed by the School of Mining of Rabat through a partnership that was created 2 years ago. Around MMC Aline Costa Silva conducted Mine Planning Training and Gerrit Theron gave Studio RM training to the school.
  • It was exciting to see how the various stakeholders in the mining industry are collaboratively striving towards further digitalisation.
  • We experienced first-hand how OCP, one of the world’s leading mining companies, has embraced the route of digitalisation; this endeavour can only suggest the potential that exists and how Datamine can take part in it
