In 2018, Datamine released its ground-breaking dynamic rule-based open pit design system, delivered as part of the Datamine Studio OP product. Many existing customers have benefitted from this fantastic functionality and it has also been a major factor in bringing new clients into the Datamine family in 2019.
Datamine is pleased to announce that Studio OP’s super-fast pit design capability is now matched by a sister component for Automated Dump Design. Powered by Datamine Studio’s renowned automated pit design engine, using Dynamic Dump Design means you can now accurately model alternative dumps (both in-pit and ex-pit) and stockpiles in mere minutes. Designs can be automatically merged into complex topographies, may include fixed or adaptive haul roads and can even take account of slope regions to control berm widths and slope angles. Each Lift can be separately constrained and is automatically evaluated to help you quickly compare scenarios.
Selected dump and stockpile designs can be used by Studio OP’s short and medium-term scheduling to investigate alternative planning strategies. Dumps can be broken into solids and sequenced to model their construction and reclamation, adding greater accuracy to the haulage times which can be used as targets and constraints to the scheduling optimisation.
Like Studio OP’s Automated Pit Design, Datamine’s Dynamic Dump Design has delivered another step-change for open pit engineers and is available at no extra cost to all maintained Datamine Studio OP customers.
