Introducing Studio Survey – Open Pit Surveying Solution

Introducing Studio Survey – Open Pit Surveying Solution

Ben Vagg and our development team have been hard at work on a survey solution designed exclusively for Open Pit Mine Surveyors. Studio Survey is not a module within a more complex product but is a dedicated product that simplifies and streamlines the processing of everyday survey tasks in operations mining any type of commodity.

Built on the renowned and trusted Studio platform, Studio Survey includes key features such as:

  • automated reporting tools that not only eliminate manual work, but are also repeatable and reduce the chance of input error,
  • intelligent CAD tools that require minimal user input and reduce the time taken to process survey data ,
  • simple drag and drop support for a large range of file types that make it easy to import files from historical data sets and to use drone data and point clouds,
  • easy to use survey focussed tools for creating DTMs and calculating volumes.

We recently sat down with Ben who talked us through the features of Studio Survey. Watch the short video below to get an idea of what to expect – a full video will be available closer to the first official release of Studio Survey so please make sure you follow us on LinkedIn for timely news and updates.

Over the last couple of months Ben has been working closely with the developers of Studio Survey to improve the automation of our CAD tools and the capabilities of our End Of Month reporting functions. These functions contribute to an indispensable product for surveyors working in an open pit environment which will save time by reducing interactive manual processing. Other milestones so far include the completion of blast volume reporting whilst the survey instrument integration component is also nearing completion. These are just a few examples of the great work the team has been developing; you can be assured that Studio Survey will be a surveyor’s best friend during their working day. Watch a short overview of the blast volume reporting tool below.

Showcasing Studio Survey at the Copperbelt Conference

We had fantastic feedback from users at the Copperbelt Conference held in Zambia from the 4-8 March where a comprehensive workshop was held covering both Studio Survey (open pit survey solution) and Amine (underground survey solution). Both Ben and Kalumba Bwale led the workshop for a group of experienced surveyors who were impressed at how easy to use and fast Datamine’s survey products are compared to the current solutions being used. The workshop heightened their anticipation for the Studio Survey release, particularly amongst those trialling early releases. Ben has more travel planned over the next few months so you can definitely look forward to more Studio Survey milestones being announced before its official release!
