Meet Israel Garcia who has recently joined Datamine Australia as the Enterprise Solutions Manager. Israel is a high performing, results generation professional Sales Executive with over 22 years of high-end business to business solution-based sales experience among various industries including telecommunications and mining industry.
Get to know Israel a little better through the interview below:
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I was born in Mexico and travelled to the USA to finish my international business studies in Pasadena California. I started my international sales career in 2000 working with Tait Radio Communications, in Christchurch, New Zealand.
I took responsibility for the development and implementation of new strategic sales ventures into Latin America, where I had the opportunity to finalise complex communications solutions to BHP- El Cerrejon, CerroMatoso, Antamina, and Grupo Mexico.
My Australian and Asia Pacific roles having involved national and international sales director roles which now continue to expose me to the mining industry. I am passionate about understanding a customers’ needs and the best way to do this is to be onsite. I was managed business relationships with Chuquicamata Copper Mine (Chile) Escondida Copper Mine (Chile) Antofagasta Minerals (Chile) BHP El Cerrejon (Colombia) Panamerican Silver, Penasquito, Gold Corp (Mexico) with whom I converted business relationships to that of a valued supplier and client.
Can you explain some of the challenges you consult to your clients on in a few sentences and how you help them improve?
The world has changed, the way we doing business is different. Customers are culturally and technologically educated. My strategy is to introduce clients to value added newer solutions which would offer them an efficiency gain I utilize a consultative relationship building approach by drilling into the iceberg. Never assuming that what they are thinking is what they want. Listening closely to their needs, has permitted me to further understand their key win requirements personally and operationally.
My motto is, active listening to understand a client’s business requirements.
What inspired your career in this industry?
The opportunity to grow professionally in a diverse industry including its financial benefits.
An exciting opportunity to join the Datamine APAC team came along in the Enterprise Sales space which gives me the opportunity to continue to enhance my career.
What is the most satisfying aspect of your role / the work you do?
The ability to interact with a diverse group of stakeholders and taking them through a consultative journey converting their problems into solutions. I am passionate about providing exceptional customer service and solutions to my clients. My desire is to establish a client base of return business.
What are your best memories from your career?
The people that have invested in my career, the celebration of the success stories, the unique visits to international sites and the learnings from each sales process and other high performing colleagues.
What’s a fun fact about you?
I enjoy riding my motorcycle on weekends and I also spend time at the racetrack. I love the freedom motorcycle riding provides me. My most valuable fun fact about me I must confess, is spending time with my wife and children
