In this blog, we’d like to introduce a member of the Datamine C-Suite, Jennifer Reidel. Jennifer has been at Vela Software for over 5 years and has been Datamine’s CFO for the past 9 months, supporting and assisting clients through the acquisition processes. Get to know her a little better through the interview below:

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Based in Toronto, I have been working in the finance industry for 12+ years. I started my career in the public Audit practice at KPMG, where I obtained my designation as a Chartered Accountant. While still at KPMG I transitioned to the Transaction Advisory group where I supported our clients through the acquisition process, working on both due diligence and post-acquisition integration.

I later moved to a software business in the telecommunications industry, helping support the integration of a large acquisition and focusing on working capital and treasury related initiatives.

I have been at CSI for over 5 years now, supporting several of our portfolios at Vela Software over that time. In my current role at Datamine, I oversee the finance function for our existing businesses and am actively involved in acquiring new businesses and integrating them into our current operations, finance structure and systems.

Can you explain some of the challenges you consult to your clients on, and how you help them improve?

I support our teams in their interactions with clients to help facilitate the most efficient order to cash cycle. I also support our clients and organization with product investment decisions, product pricing, and payment options.

What inspired your career in this industry?

I enjoy understanding and analyzing data to help solve problems. There are continuous opportunities to learn and grow in the finance industry, and I thrive on these experiences and the ability to use information to make educated decisions.

What is the most satisfying aspect of your role / the work you do?

I really enjoy working with the finance team, broader management group and others across the organization. We have such a dynamic group of people on the Datamine team located across the globe and I am learning every day from my interactions with everyone. I take pride in fostering a collaborative environment with my team and involving them in new opportunities where they can grow as professionals within the organization.

What are your best memories from your career?

Some of my best memories have come from trips with my colleagues to visit other offices, clients and potential target companies. I have been fortunate to travel to many countries and experience many new cultures during my career and cherish the relationships I have built during these times.

What’s a fun fact about you?

I played competitive soccer (football) growing up and continue to play as much as I can today.
